Get a Character Sheet

Everyone so far has a paper character sheet, so I'd encourage you to print one off for this process, or use a fillable version and print it in time for the session.

Choose a Class

Your class is going to have the biggest impact on your play experience. You can read more at this link, but I put some basic info in the table below if you want to make a quick choice. You can pick anything you like, even if someone's already picked it.

Roll Your Stats

We decided to go kind of hardcore with ability score generation, so if you want to keep in spirit with the rest of the party, do the following:

  1. Roll four 6-sided dice (or use this if you don't have physical dice)
  2. Add up the 3 highest rolls and write the total on your sheet as the Strength "score"
    1. Example: If you rolled 4, 5, 1, 2, your Strength is 11
    2. You can leave the Modifier box blank
  3. Roll and assign scores in this order: Strength > Dexterity > Constitution > Intelligence > Wisdom > Charisma
  4. Finally, roll once using the dice type listed below to determine your starting HP
    1. Your actual HP will be higher than the result, this roll is just a level 2 bonus.
Class Type
Barbarian 12-sided die
Bard, Cleric, Druid, Monk, Rogue, Warlock 8-sided die
Fighter, Paladin, Ranger 10-sided die
Sorcerer, Wizard 6-sided die

This method may produce non-optimal scores (like a low-intelligence Wizard), but we're just planning for this to be a 4-session intro adventure, so we're leaning in to the risk for the hell of it.

DM me your character sheet or a summary through Discord, and I'll make a dedicated page for you on this website.

There's still a bunch of math and minutiae to fill out, but I can do those for you to keep things simple. Just make sure your sheet/summary includes:

If you pick a spellcasting class, I'll be sending you the spell lists so you can pick from there before the session.

Have fun!
